It cleared enough at 2130 GMT for a
binocular scan. It was somewhat clearer than on 4th but not quite dark. I with Melotte 20 as a sighter/focusing object.
Looked superb as usual. I decided to explore Sagittarius and found M20 and M8
well enough but they were not quite at their best. M22 showed well and M24 was
its usual self. M15 was visible. I also saw Alpha Capricornii, a wide double
star. A check of Mizar had me thinking for a minute that I’d made a clean split
but it was wishful thinking.
