I woke up early in the morning and was
unable to get straight back to sleep. I proceeded to the hotel roof at 0430 GMT
where I snapped the Moon with Jupiter, Moon through binoculars and Canis Major
with Canopus.
The Moon was a waning gibbous phase, with
Tycho’s rays dominating. Although it was hazy I was able to see the Orion Great
Nebula (M41), M41 and the Hyades.
I also tried to see Venus but its disc was
too small to ascertain a phase. Jupiter showed 2 moons to the east and one to
the west.
