Video summary of September 2012

This took some time, as I had problems with YouTube, so I did this as a playlist:

Solar binocular scan

I bin scanned the Sun at  1030 GMT in poor conditions and couldn’t see any sunspots. The Big Bear images suggested a quiet Sun.

Lunar webcam shoot

I tried a few webcam runs of the Moon and Jupiter from 0030 GMT. The cloud had worsened and getting a webcam shot of Jupiter was proving as difficult as ever.

Moon and Jupiter shoot

I was out at 0000 GMT to snap the Moon and Jupiter. Some cloud had appeared since my constellation shoot and the Moon was a bit difficult but I captured enough clean frames to have a go. Jupiter was being its usual awkward self. The moons made an interesting pattern but the full disc was jumping about and my close-ups were more in hope than expectancy. However, at least I caught some cloud bands.

Constellation shoot

At 2130 GMT I popped out to do a constellation shoot. Although it didn’t appear completely clear, I was nevertheless surprised to capture a lot of detail.

Photos are:

  • Aquila, also showing Delphinus and Sagitta

  • Perseus

  • Jupiter in Taurus

  • Summer Triangle

  • Pegasus, also showing Pisces
